What is the difference between FLUX 2 Flex and FLUX 2 Dev?
Both models support reference images (image-to-image), but FLUX 2 Flex is a newer, more flexible architecture with improved reference-image conditioning. FLUX 2 Dev is optimized for general-purpose generation while Flex is designed to handle multi-reference blending and style transfer more accurately.
Do I have to upload reference images to use FLUX 2 Flex?
No — reference images are completely optional. Without them, FLUX 2 Flex operates as a standard text-to-image model. Simply write a prompt and select your aspect ratio and image size to generate.
How many reference images can I upload?
You can upload up to 4 reference images per generation. Accepted formats are jpeg, png, gif, and webp. Each file can be up to 50 MB.
What happens to the aspect ratio when I upload reference images?
When reference images are provided, FLUX 2 Flex automatically sets the aspect ratio to 'match_input_image' — the output dimensions will match those of your uploaded reference. The aspect ratio selector is disabled in this mode.
How many credits does FLUX 2 Flex cost per generation?
Each FLUX 2 Flex generation consumes 5 credits. Credits are deducted only after a successful generation. If a generation fails for any reason, your credits are not charged.
Can I use FLUX 2 Flex for commercial projects?
Yes. Images generated through the FLUX 2 Dev platform are yours to use for personal and commercial projects, subject to Black Forest Labs' model license and our Terms of Service. Please review both before publishing commercially.
